2012 - another busy year for Argenta!

Argenta has supported registrations of small and large animal products in the EU and USA on behalf of top tier US based animal health pharmaceutical companies.This included the full range of services such as full CMC data from product invention, all formulation and methods development/validation, process development/validation, packaging and all CMC related pivotal work (excluding API) in support of filing and approval in various countries. Some of the approvals and submissions over the last 12-18 months included:

  • Development and commercialization of revolutionary NCE product for large animal – approved in EU, South Africa, NZ.
  • Development and commercialization of revolutionary pain management product – approved in EU, USA and other countries.
  • Development and commercialization of a novel controlled release product for large animal – approved in EU and other countries.

News from the Labs

  • Staff: Darrell Morgan joins the New Zealand team as Contract R&D Manager, a newly created senior position reporting directly to R&D Manager, David Gill. Darrell has over 20 years of pharmaceutical development experience and was previously Director, Head of Patient Solution Technologies at UCB-Celltech in Europe.


  • Equipment: As part of meeting the increased compliance needs, Argenta has taken possession of a new state of the art Agilent Headspace GC with which to complete residual solvent analysis on raw materials for products sold in the USA and other markets. Previously these analyses were conducted under service agreements with partner laboratories in the USA. With recent approvals and increased volumes going into the northern hemisphere, this investment made economic sense.

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) were part of the organizing team for this screening and extended an invitation to Argenta. This exciting event was attended by Alcherabio’s Dr. Johnny Jacobsen and Dr. Vicky Lewis who were accompanied by Dr. Linda Rhodes, Chief Scientific Officer of innovative Animal Health Company, Aratana Therapeutics Inc.
